Razer Brings ‘Snap Tap’ Feature to All Synapse 4 Supported Devices

The controversial feature from Razer known as the Snap Tap is now available to more of its peripherals and devices for players to enjoy, and it only requires having the Synapse 4 running on their tech. This feature has long been a subject of dispute in the gaming industry as many have branded it as a form of "cheating" because it gives a specific player unfair advantages over others who are not using it.

It is more commonly used in first-person shooter (FPS) games as it offers automation to the extent that it can help improve users' gameplay.

Razer's Snap Tap feature is rolling out to more of its devices as the company has now made it available to all Synapse 4-supported laptops or keyboards under its brand. This special feature allows "strafing" on games, especially for FPS titles.

The latest feature drop by Razer on Synapse 4 makes Snap Tap available for these devices, which include Razer Blades from 2018 to Razer Books, as well as keyboards like Razer's BlackWidow, Cynosa, Deathstalker, Huntsman, Ornata Chroma, Tartarus, and more. You may check the full list of supported devices for Synapse 4 via this website.

Users only need to install Synapse 4, and they may turn on Snap Tap whenever they need it.

Is Using Razer's Snap Tap Feature on Keyboards Cheating?

The gaming industry has long called the Snap Tap a form of cheating as it no longer stops a player when strafing or counter-strafing in games. It can register the last input as its priority, allowing a player to hold down a directional button while tapping the opposite key to run in a different direction.

Since then, Valve has banned this feature for Counter-Strike 2, and other gaming leagues like the ESL followed. While it may  technically not be cheating, it offers an advantage to players using the tech against those who purely rely on skill and other brands that don't offer such feature.

Razer's Snap Tap Feature in its Peripherals

In the gaming and esports industry, Razer has been one of the household names for players and professionals as it offers a wide selection of mechanical keyboards, wireless and wired mice, game streaming devices, and more. The Singapore-based consumer tech gaming company has since risen to fame because of what its devices have to offer, promising better gaming experiences for all.

Razer focuses on competitive gaming, and its many developments for its devices have been seen throughout the years, including the Snap Tap feature. Since it first came out on Razer's Huntsman V3 Pro keyboard lineup, it made significant headlines for providing gamers with automation, but it has also been subjected to criticism from game developers and FPS purists who focus on skill.

Many people claim that using this feature in competitive play and regular matches is unfair, giving users an advantage to get the better of their opponents as they have one less problem to worry about.
