Mira Murati, the Chief Technology Officer of OpenAI, has announced her departure from the company. She has been credited for being instrumental in the development of both ChatGPT and Dall-E.
At one point in her OpenAI career, she was even named interim CEO of the company.
Aside from Murati, OpenAI's Vice President for Research Barret Zeph and research chief Bob McGrew are also leaving the company, according to CEO Sam Altman.
Who is Mira Murati?
According to a report, Murati joined OpenAI's leadership team in 2018. She previously worked for Tesla and Ultraleap, which was then known as Leap Motion.
When Sam Altman was briefly ousted last year, Murati was named interim CEO. She was one of the employees who threatened to resign if Altman was not reinstated in his position.
Nearly a year since, Murati has announced her departure from the company.
In a post on her personal X account, she said that "There's never an ideal time to step away from a place one cherishes, yet this moment feels right."

Executives Have Been Leaving OpenAI
Murati is the latest addition to the list of OpenAI executives who have announced their departure this year.
Back in May, OpenAI's co-founder and chief scientist Ilya Sutskever departed from the company. Three months later, another co-founder, John Schulman, announced that he was leaving. He eventually moved to Anthropic, an OpenAI rival.
