The newly-announced Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets are now available for pre-order in the U.S. from a number of retailers, sporting a $399.99 starting price.
The Galaxy Tab S are Samsung's very first tablets with high-resolution Super AMOLED displays, offering notably superior visuals. The new lineup consists of two models, one with an 8.4-inch screen and the other with a 10.5-inch display, which share the same specs. The smaller model starts at $399.99, while the larger variant starts at $499.99.
The Wi-Fi-only versions of these new Galaxy Tab S slates are now up for pre-order from several retailers, including Best Buy, Amazon, Frys, Office Depot, Office Max, PC Richard & Son, as well as from Samsung's own website. The 4G LTE models, meanwhile, are not available yet.
The Wi-Fi-only models pack an octa-core Samsung Exynos 5420 processor, while the 4G LTE variants come with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz. All variants of the Galaxy Tab S boast Super AMOLED displays with a high resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and have fingerprint readers for extra security.
Internal storage options include 16GB or 32GB configurations, and the slates also come with microSD card support for additional memory of up to 128GB. Other specs include 3GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and auto-focus, as well as a 2.1-megapixel front shooter for video calls and self shots. On the software side, the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets rock Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, with Samsung's own Magazine UI on top.
