Samsung updates Galaxy lineup with four new smartphones – Here’s what’s in store

Samsung has just updated its Galaxy smartphone lineup with four new devices, all of which target budget-conscious shoppers looking for an affordable smartphone.

The company announced on Monday, June 30, that four new smartphones will be joining its Galaxy range: the Galaxy Core II, Galaxy Star 2, Galaxy Ace 4, and Galaxy Young 2.

According to Samsung's announcement, all four smartphones are designed to deliver an "exceptional smartphone experience at an affordable price." Moreover, each handset comes with Samsung's simplified TouchWiz Essence user interface on top of Android 4.4 KitKat.

Samsung Galaxy Core II

The Galaxy Core II sports a 4.5-inch display, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 768MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage capacity. The handset is dual-SIM, has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, packs a 2,000 mAh battery, and comes in white or black color options, with a leather-like rear cover.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 4

The Galaxy Ace 4 comes in both LTE and 3G versions. The handset sports a 1GHz dual-core processor (unspecified), 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory, and a 1,500 mAh battery. Available color options are white and charcoal.

Samsung Galaxy Young 2

The Galaxy Young 2 is a compact handset with a 3.5-inch display, with a single-core 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. Other specs include 4GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card for additional memory, a 3-megapixel rear camera, and a 1,300 mAh battery. Just like the Galaxy Ace 4, the Galaxy Young 2 comes in white or charcoal color options.

Samsung Galaxy Star 2

Lastly, the 3.5-inch Galaxy Star 2 also comes with a single-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage capacity, and a microSD card slot for additional memory. The handset further features a 2-megapixel camera and a 1,300 mAh battery.

Samsung has yet to offer pricing or availability details for these four new smartphones, but the specs indicate that they're all targeted at budget shoppers. Considering that Samsung has already made an official announcement with spec details for the devices, it shouldn't be too long before the Galaxy Core II, Galaxy Ace 4, Galaxy Young 2 and Galaxy Star 2 hit commercial availability.
