Nokia has recently started pushing its Lumia Cyan update, bringing the latest Windows Phone 8.1 to existing devices running Windows Phone 8.
The Lumia Cyan package, which includes several other improvements from Nokia in addition to the latest version of Microsoft's mobile operating system, has started to roll out earlier this week in the UK. The company promised that the update would soon reach other countries and regions as well, and would be available for all devices running Windows Phone 8.
It now seems that the Lumia Cyan update, complete with the latest Windows Phone 8.1 mobile operating system, has started rolling out in North America as well. More specifically, a Reddit user has just revealed on Friday, July 18, that the update rolled out in Canada, on Koodo. The user even posted some screenshots on WPCentral forums to prove the claims, showing the new Cyan package gracing a Nokia Lumia 925 smartphone on Koodo. On the other hand, the user likely has an international version of the Lumia 925.
The intriguing part is that Canada was not supposed to get the update just yet. Nokia is still showing the Cyan update as "under testing" for North America, although it seems like the company jumped the gun and rolled out the new software ahead of schedule.
The update is highly anticipated by Windows Phone users worldwide, as it brings a slew of improvements and new features that will significantly improve the experience. Windows Phone 8.1 boasts notable improvements over the previous version of the OS, and Nokia has also thrown in some unique goodies in this Lumia Cyan update.
Cortana is one of the most touted features found in the new Windows Phone 8.1, launching as Microsoft's new digital assistant and answer to Apple's Siri and Google Now. It's worth pointing out, however, that Cortana will only be available to Windows Phone 8.1 users in the U.S. for now.
If the Lumia Cyan update has already started rolling out in North America, it shouldn't be too long until all Windows Phone 8 devices in Canada and the U.S. have the very latest software on board. Currently no specific details are available regarding when the Nokia Lumia Cyan update will roll out from the various mobile carriers in the U.S., but we'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more.
