Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 spotted at the FCC?

A smartphone believed to be the rumored Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has just dropped by the FCC, suggesting that it may be ready to debut soon.

Not too long ago, rumors of a Galaxy Mega 2 started to surface, suggesting that a successor to last year's Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 was en route. The handset was reportedly spotted with model number SM-G7508.

According to a new report from Phone Arena, a device that's likely the Galaxy Mega 2 was spotted at the FCC with model number G750A, which is a variation of the previously-reported SM-7508 model number.

While this SM-G750A model number has popped up before, a few months back, it was then believed to refer to a Galaxy S5 Mini variant. That was obviously not the case, and FCC documents now prove that this device is not "Mini" at all. The SM-G750A measures 164.4 x 85 mm, which means that it's bigger than the Galaxy Mega 5.8 (see image above), but smaller than the Galaxy Mega 6.3. This size indicates that it may be the much-rumored Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 with a 5.9-inch display.

The FCC listing further reveals that this device will come with LTE, NFC, and Wi-Fi connectivity options. On the other hand, the documents don't really reveal anything in terms of specifications, so it remains unclear at this point just what this phablet will bring to the table.

Based on previous leaks and rumors, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 is expected to pack a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter.

Moreover, as Phone Arena points out, Samsung also confirms the existence of this SM-G750A device via a UAProf that's available on its website (.xml file). That listing further details that the device sports a 720p HD display and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

All signs seems to indicate that the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 will arrive as a massive mid-range device, but nothing is confirmed at this point. The FCC listing suggests that it may be ready to hit the market soon, but no details are currently available as to when the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 will actually make its official debut. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
