The newly-announced Samsung Galaxy Alpha does not have a launch date set just yet, but Vodafone UK has nonetheless announced that it will be selling the smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha has stirred quite some waves, as it comes as the first Galaxy device to loosen the company's infamous bond with plastic and sport a metallic touch instead. The handset is expected to hit commercial availability next month, and Vodafone UK has already confirmed that it will add it to its range of contracts.
"Eyeing up a new phone? If you've got your heart set on the mobile of your dreams, but you know it's a while away from release, it's good to know that it is definitely in the horizon," Vodafone UK touts on its "coming soon" page. "That's exactly the thinking behind this new page: it's your one-stop, always-updated place to find out which phones are coming to Vodafone."
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha appears on this page, but the carrier offers no details regarding how much the device will cost on its network. Vodafone does mention, however, that it will offer the smartphone in a range of colors, including Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, and Sleek Silver. In other words, only the Scuba Blue color option seems to be missing, but might join the range later on.
If you've missed the news, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha comes with a stylish metal frame and an elegant design, but it also packs powerful specs. The handset sports a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, an octa-core Samsung Exynos 5430 processor (quad 1.8GHz + quad 1.3GHz), 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage capacity. On the downside, the Galaxy Alpha does not support any additional storage. Other specs include a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 2.1-megapixel front shooter, a 1,860 mAh battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. Premium features such as a fingerprint scanner and a heart rate monitor are also on board.
No exact launch date is available for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha just yet, and it also remains unclear at this point just how much it will cost. Nevertheless, interested buyers in the UK will be glad to know the smartphone is coming their way. We'll keep you up to date with more details as soon as they become available, so stay tuned.
