Meet the new Nokia Lumia 730, Lumia 735: ‘The ultimate Selfie and Skype phones’

Microsoft-owned Nokia has unveiled exciting new devices as part of its #MoreLumia press conference at the IFA 2014 trade show, including the new Lumia 730 and Lumia 735.

Both of these smartphones come with virtually identical specifications, as well as some differences: the Lumia 735 model comes with a single SIM card slot and LTE, while the Lumia 730 comes with dual-SIM and HSPA+ connectivity. The duo is aimed at selfie addicts, with both smartphones boasting 5-megapixel front shooters.

"Launched today, and proving that smartphone owners want to share themselves with the world, are the Skype-and-selfie-toting Lumia 730 Dual SIM and Lumia 735. And they provide uncompromised smartphone experience too with an affordable price tag," Nokia touts in a blog post on Thursday, Sept. 4.

When it comes to specifications, the Lumia 730/735 spec sheet includes a 4.7-inch AMOLED display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 729 pixels, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC clocked at 1.2Ghz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, a 6.7-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and a 2,200 mAh battery to keep everything up and running. The Lumia 735 also comes with wireless charging capabilities.

On the software side, the Nokia Lumia 730 and Lumia 735 come with Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1 operating system on board, pre-loaded with neat features such as Action Center and Live Tiles, Microsoft Office, pinpoint mapping and sat nav tech from HERE Maps and Drive+. Also on board are Instagram, Twitter, as well as fitness apps to take advantage of Sensocore technology such as FitBit and Adidas miCoach.

In terms of pricing and availability, both the Nokia Lumia 730 and Lumia 735 will go on sale in the coming weeks, retailing for €199 (about $260) and €219 (roughly $290), respectively.

Lumia Denim update

Lastly, Nokia also detailed its very latest software update, the Lumia Denim. This package comes alongside Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 and includes a slew of neat updates to the photography features of Microsoft's mobile OS.

With this update, supported smartphones will finally boast 4K recording capabilities, while the Nokia Camera app will deliver faster boot-up times and better shots, as well as automatic HDR selection with Rich Capture.

The new Lumia Denim update will come pre-loaded on the newly-announced Lumia 830, Lumia 730, and Lumia 735 smartphones, and will also roll out to the Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, and Lumia 1530 in the fourth quarter of this year.
