Sony fans in the UK are in for some good news, as the new Xperia Z3 Compact smartphone is now up for pre-order in the country.
The handset is available for pre-order straight from the SONY Mobile UK website, sporting a £429 price tag and four available color options: black, white, green, and orange.
With smartphones nowadays becoming increasingly larger, the trend of "Mini" smartphones is still going strong. These Mini handsets are smaller versions of high-end flagships, but they usually come with watered-down specifications compared to their big brothers.
Sony revolutionized this whole Mini trend when it launched its Xperia Z1 Compact, as it made little compromises in the specs department despite the smaller form factor. The smartphone drew plenty of interest and enjoyed great success, and its successor now comes in the form of the new Xperia Z3 Compact, as an Xperia Z2 Compact never made it to market.
The new Xperia Z3 Compact made its debut last week at the big IFA 2014 trade show in Berlin, launching with uncompromising specs and a neat design. The handset sports a 4.6-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, and 2GB of RAM.
Other specs of the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact include 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory of up to 128GB, a high-end 20.7-megapixel rear camera with a Sony Exmor RS sensor, and a 2.2-megapixel Sony Exmor R front shooter. As expected from a new Sony device, the Xperia Z3 Compact also comes with certification for dust and water resistance.
