The recently-announced HTC Desire 510 smartphone with a 64-bit processor is ready to hit Cricket Wireless in the U.S. next week, on Sept. 19.
As a reminder, Cricket Wireless is a no-contract carrier under AT&T's wing, offering contract-free devices for reasonable prices. The carrier now boasts that it will be among the first to launch the 4G LTE-enabled HTC Desire 510. Starting on Sept. 19, the smartphone will be available for $149.99 in all Cricket stores, as well as online. Cricket further points out that it will be a phased rollout that should complete in October, and the HTC Desire 510 will also become available at more than 2,800 GameStop retail locations across the U.S. with Cricket's no-annual contract wireless service.
"With the high performing HTC Desire 510, we are giving Cricket customers another great LTE device to choose from among our extensive lineup of 4G LTE supported devices," Andy Smoak, head of product for Cricket Wireless, touts in the press release on Tuesday, Sept. 10. "In addition to offering the latest must-have devices, Cricket provides one of the best values in no-annual contract with plans starting at $35 per month after a $5 credit for using Auto Pay, taxes and fees includes, all riding on a new and fast network that covers over 98% of the population."
As a reminder, the HTC Desire 510 sports a 4.7-inch FWVGA display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC under the hood, clocked at 1.2GHz. Other specs include 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory of up to 128GB, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a VGA front shooter. A 2,100 mAh battery will keep things up and running, while Android 4.4 KitKat and HTC Sense 6 will rock the software side.
In other words, the HTC Desire 510 is not the highest-end smartphone out there, but it's a good value-for-money device that should deliver great performance for its category and price point. As previously mentioned, the HTC Desire 510 is set to launch on Cricket on Sept. 19 for $149.99, with no annual contract.
