LG G3 Vigor ready to join AT&T’s lineup, competing in the mid-range sector

AT&T has officially announced that it will start offering the mid-range LG G3 Vigor smartphone to its customers, but it has yet to offer exact pricing and availability details.

For those unfamiliar with the device, the LG G3 Vigor is a more affordable version of the flagship, and has already made its way to other carriers in the U.S. While the name might suggest a more vigorous, rugged device, however, that is not the case. The LG G3 Vigor is simply a watered-down version of the LG G3, marking the company's effort to compete in the mid-tier segment of the smartphone market.

In many ways, the LG G3 Vigor is a rebranded LG G3 Beat, offering very similar specifications. More specifically, the smartphone comes with a 5-inch IPS display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood, clocked at 1.2GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM. In other words, no top-notch specs grace the device, but it will nonetheless deliver good performance for mid-range needs.

Other specifications include 8GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory of up to 32GB, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 1.3-megapixel front shooter. The LG G3 Vigor should also deliver a good battery performance, as it packs a 2,540 mAh unit. On the software side, the device runs Android 4.4 KitKat. Moreover, AT&T also touts that the LG G3 Vigor is compatible with its HD Voice, which should allow for superior call quality, but has some requirements of its own.

"LG G3 Vigor supports AT&T HD Voice which enables background noise reduction and crisp audio quality when both callers are using AT&T HD Voice compatible phones within the AT&T HD Voice coverage area and have HD Voice provisioned on their account," notes the carrier's press release. "HD Voice has limited availability in select markets and limited device selection."

As previously mentioned, AT&T has yet to offer exact details on when it will launch the device and how much it will cost on its network, but the LG G3 Vigor should be available for free when agreeing to sign a two-year service agreement. The full cost of the device, meanwhile, should be around $300. We'll keep you up to date as soon as the carrier releases more info, so stay tuned.
