The newly-unveiled Moto X, i.e. the second-generation also referred to as the Moto X2, has officially gone up for pre-order on AT&T.
The new Moto X made its debut earlier this month, boasting impressive improvements on all fronts compared to its predecessor. AT&T has now started taking pre-orders for the device as scheduled, offering the new Moto X for $99.99 when agreeing to sign a two-year service agreement.
Interested buyers who don't want to commit to a lengthy carrier contract, meanwhile, will also be able to get the new Moto X off-contract for the full retail price of $526. It's worth pointing out, however, that those who want no carrier ties whatsoever may find the Moto X - Pure Edition a better choice.
As a reminder, the new Moto X comes with some high-end specs and features, marking a big step forward from the original model released last year. The 2013 Moto X launched with mid-range specifications on board, but it nonetheless drew plenty of attention because it offered unprecedented customization options. Its successor now takes it to the next level, retaining the high customization aspect but adding some powerful hardware into the mix.
The new iteration comes with a larger 5.2-inch OLED display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs a powerful quad-core processor under the hood, in the form of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5GHz. Other specs include 2GB of RAM, 16GB/ 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front shooter. A 2,300 mAh battery will keep things up and running, allowing for up to 17 hours of talk time and up to 10.4 days on standby. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, 4G LTE, and more.
It's also worth pointing out, however, that AT&T does not allow customers to personalize their smartphone through its website. Interested buyers who want to customize their new Moto X through Moto Maker will need to buy the device directly from Motorola.
The new Moto X is available for pre-order now and is set to start shipping next week, on Sept. 23. For more information or to place your pre-order, head over to AT&T's website at this link.
