The NVIDIA Shield tablet with 32GB of internal storage capacity and 4G LTE connectivity from AT&T is now officially available for purchase.
The 32GB LTE gaming tablet comes with a $399 price tag and is available straight from NVIDIA. This new model not only adds 4G LTE connectivity to go along with its Wi-Fi access, but it also doubles the storage of the original model, which came with only 16GB on board.
Moreover, NVIDIA has also pushed update 1.2 to both models of the Shield tablet, bringing along a slew of enhancements to the features found in the Shield Hub. Other additions and improvements include network test capability, customizable "My Android Games" and "My Media Apps," "Share" functionality for new stories, enhanced touch performance, and a swipe feature.
As for the tablet itself, the new 32GB AT&T NVIDIA Shield 4G LTE slate comes with the same hardware specifications of the 16GB, Wi-Fi-only model. More specifically, both versions come with an 8-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and pack a powerful Tegra K1 processor under the hood (192 core Kepler graphics processing unit, 2.2GHz ARM Cortex A15 CPU).
Other specifications include 2GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera with auto focus, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and stereo front speakers with dual bass reflex port and built-in microphone. Connectivity options consist of Wi-Fi 802.11n (2x2 MIMO), Bluetooth 4.0, mini HDMI output, microUSB 2.0, and a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo port. The device works with micro-SIM and also comes with microSD support for additional memory. DirectStylus with 3D Paint is also among the highlights. On the software side, the NVIDIA Shield gaming tablet runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
Moreover, interested customers can also choose to enhance their NVIDIA Shield tablet experience with various accessories, including a wireless controller, an additional stylus, an additional AC adapter, and a tablet cover. While the battery life of this tablet is good with mixed usage, heavy gamers may need a little more juice to keep things up and running.
The NVIDIA Shield tablet comes with a $299 price tag for the 16GB, Wi-Fi-only model, and $399 for the 32GB Wi-Fi + LTE model. For more details or to make a purchase, head over to NVIDIA's website at this link.
