Android Wear smartwatch owners are in for some good news, as they can now customize their watch faces with the new "Face for Wear" application.
Google's Android Wear has stirred plenty of interest since its formal debut, as did the gadgets that run the platform. While the Android Wear smartwatches from LG, Samsung, and Motorola aim to offer a neat design by themselves, complete with pretty watch faces, some users may still like to customize their watch faces to more properly suit their style, moods, or preferences.
A new app called Face for Wear has now finally exited the beta development stage it's been in for a good while, and is now available for download from the Google Play store. The app aims to doll up your smartwatch's face, allowing Android Wear users to choose and design a variety of custom watch faces for their gadget.
"Using Face for Android Wear all you have to do is pick the right Face Pack or combination you like and push directly from your Smartphone to your Wear," reads the app's description on Google Play.
"Choose what Face Packs you want on your Android Wear device by looking at the vast collection of premium and user submitted watches that get updated all of the time. Using our source and our template is easy, create your watch face select your defaults and submit them directly to Google Play. There is no limit on how many Face Packs you can create or how much you might want to charge for your designs," the app's description further explains.
It's worth pointing out, however, that although Face for Wear has finally exited the beta stage, the application is still a work in progress in many aspects. This means that many features are still under work, at least according to the app's developers.
Nevertheless, Face for Wear sounds like a good way for Android Wear smartwatch owners to personalize their gadgets, and for designers to monetize their watch faces.
The new Face for Wear application is now available for purchase from the Google Play store, and it comes with a $1.99 price tag.
