The Motorola Droid Turbo will most likely make its official debut on Oct. 28, if a new countdown on Verizon Wireless' DroidDoes website is anything to go by.
Verizon Wireless and Motorola have been having a very fruitful collaboration for the past few years, which resulted in the popular lineup of Verizon-exclusive Droid devices.
An upcoming Motorola Droid Turbo has leaked quite extensively as of late, and even the entire user manual for the handset has surfaced online before the official launch. The abundance of leaks gave us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the Motorola Droid Turbo, and now Verizon has virtually confirmed the unveiling date.
While the carrier did not specifically mention the Motorola Droid Turbo, its DroidDoes webpage now has a countdown to boost excitement for an event 13 days from now. Verizon is not saying what it will unveil at that point, but the Droid Turbo will most likely be the star of the show. Based on this countdown, the smartphone should become official later this month, on Oct. 28.
Leaks and rumors so far have revealed that the upcoming Verizon Droid Turbo smartphone from Motorola will launch as a real powerhouse, outshining even the company's new Moto X flagship. The Droid Turbo will reportedly boast a 5.2-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a pixel density of 565 ppi, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection for extra durability and scratch-resistance.
Under the hood, the Motorola Droid Turbo is expected to pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz, paired with 3GB of RAM. Other rumored specs include 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 21-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, 4K video capture and other neat features, a 3,900 mAh battery, and Moto Turbo Charger support.
The handset is further rumored to be 4G LTE and XLTE-enabled, with VoLTE and Advanced Calling 1.0 reportedly set to come within 30-90 days of launch. Software features will reportedly include Motorola's most popular Moto suite, including Moto Voice, Display, Actions, Assist, and Migrate.
In terms of appearance, the Droid Turbo is expected to boast a Metallized Glass Fiber (MGF) rear cover with a Kevlar layer for reinforcement, and come in Metallic Red and Metallic Black color options.
It all remains in the rumor state for now, but we'll get the official scoop straight from the source in less than two weeks. If Verizon's countdown is any indication, the Motorola Droid Turbo will make its formal debut on Oct. 28.
