AT&T has apparently outed the Motorola Nexus 6 ahead of its official launch, as intriguing references have popped up on the carrier's website.
Google is widely expected to launch its next-generation Nexus smartphone in collaboration with Motorola, and the big unveiling has been pegged for Wednesday, Oct. 15. The smartphone is expected to be available for purchase from the Google Play Store, like all Nexus devices, but also from carriers.
AT&T seems ready to start offering the Motorola Nexus 6 as soon as the handset becomes official, as references for the device have popped up on the carrier's website. More specifically, AT&T has apparently set up a URL for the Motorola Nexus 6 already, and someone may have hit the "Publish" button a bit too soon. Whether it was accidental or not, one thing's for sure: AT&T has a special place reserved for the Nexus 6, although so far it has never sold any Nexus smartphones directly.
Carrier availability is often good news for many consumers, as it means that they will be able to buy the device in question at a subsidized price, spread over two years or so. Nexus devices available from Google Play come unlocked and at full retail price, and many find it more advantageous to seek subsidized options.
As Android Police points out, AT&T's website now offers references to the Motorola Nexus 6, in the form of URLs on its LG devices page, for some reason. The link to the LG G Vista, for instance, was replaced by a Nexus 6 URL. The link redirects to the AT&T Motorola section, however, without actually listing the Nexus 6.
The second reference, meanwhile, is even less subtle. The image above is a screenshot of the LG G Vigor page on AT&T's website, clearly mentioning the Motorola Nexus 6 in the "People Also Viewed" section. The Nexus 6 listed here appears with the image of the LG G Vista, and the link again takes you to the aforementioned Motorola section on AT&T's website.
While AT&T doesn't offer any concrete information at this point regarding the Motorola Nexus 6 launch, the references found on its website clearly suggest that the smartphone is ready to make its debut soon.
Google has yet to make any comment in this regards, but the company is widely expected to unveil the new Motorola Nexus 6 and HTC Nexus 9 later on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
