Android 5.0 Lollipop is expected to hit a number of HTC devices and new information now details potential timeframes for various smartphones.
Google has officially taken the wraps off its latest Android 5.0 Lollipop last week, introducing the new Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player as the launch vehicles for the new operating system.
Android 5.0 Lollipop is expected to start its journey soon to existing devices, with the Nexus lineup and the Google Play Edition (GPE) devices at the top of the list. Only after the Nexus and GPE lineups get the latest update, the software will be ready to roll out to other devices.
HTC has already announced plans to upgrade its One M7 and One M8 smartphones to Android 5.0 Lollipop within 90 days of the software's official release, but offered no timeframe for when other devices in its lineup will get the same treat.
Trusted tipster LlabTooFeR now claims to have some information on this matter, revealing potential timeframes for when other HTC smartphones will get the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop. The tipster points out that the list is not final just yet, and some devices are still under evaluation, which means that everything here is subject to change. That said, LlabTooFeR lists a number of HTC devices set to get Android 5.0 Lollipop with Sense and the new HTC EYE experience. Not all features in the EYE experience, however, will be available on every device.
As expected, the HTC One M7 and One M8 are still the first in line to get the new Android 5.0 Lollipop. The GPE versions will reportedly get the update in late November - December, while the regular, HTC Sense-based models will get the software treat in January - February.
The HTC Desire EYE, HTC One M8 Dual SIM, HTC One E8, HTC One E8 Dual SIM, and HTC Butterfly 2 should get the new Android 5.0 Lollipop sometime in the January - March timeframe.
The HTC One Mini 2 and HTC Desire 816, meanwhile, are expected to get the update in the March - April timeframe.
Lastly, the HTC One Max, HTC One Mini, and HTC Butterfly S will reportedly get the bump to Android 5.0 Lollipop sometime in the March - May timeframe.
LlabTooFeR further reveals that the 64-bit Desire 820 and HTC's MediaTek-powered devices are still under evaluation, and it remains unclear whether they will receive the update or not.
