Spotify has just announced plans to launch a new Spotify Family package soon, enabling savings of 50 percent for families.
More specifically, Spotify Family will enable savings of 50 percent on up to four additional members on Premium accounts within the same family. This way, all members of a family will be able to have a Spotify account and benefit from full member subscription features, while paying less than they would for a standard Spotify subscription.
Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming services worldwide, boasting an impressive library of content from record labels including Sony, EMI, Warner Music, Universal, and others. The service is available on iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Boxee, Linux, MeeGo, Windows, Mac, and more, via a range of optimized apps. Spotify Family aims to boost the service's popularity even further and make Premium accounts more accessible.
"Are you currently sharing your Spotify account with the entire family? Want to keep your 60s soul classics playlist separate from your kids' Frozen soundtrack and save money in the process? Well, great news! With Spotify Family you can now invite up to four family members and share one billing account whilst keeping your listening history, recommendations and playlists completely separate," Spotify touts.
"This is one of the most asked for features from our audience," Ken Parks, Chief Content Officer at Spotify, adds in the press release on Monday, Oct. 20. "With today's announcement we're making it easier than ever for the whole family to experience Spotify Premium on their phones, at home and on the go."
In the U.S., for instance, Spotify Family will reportedly cost $14.99 for two users, $19.99 for three, $24.99 for four, and $29.99 for five users. With Spotify Family, users will be able to keep individual playlists with their own recommendations and music, enjoy the Premium experience with no ads and no interruptions on all accounts, and get 50 percent off Spotify Premium per each additional user.
The company has yet to offer an exact launch date for the new Spotify Family package, but it did mention that the new plan will become available worldwide "in the coming weeks."
