After receiving severe criticism for the botched launch of blockbuster video game Assassin's Creed: Unity, publisher Ubisoft has now promised to patch things up with an upcoming update.
The highly-anticipated launch of Assassin's Creed: Unity was marred by wide-ranging glitches, fueling a firestorm of criticism from players, the media, and even Ubisoft investors. The publisher lost as much as 12.8 percent in shares after the disastrous launch on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Considering the wide range and extent of the glitches found in Assassin's Creed: Unity, many blasted that the game was not ready for release and Ubisoft rushed to get it to market although it still had plenty of quirks to resolve.
Ubisoft, for its part, acknowledged the issues affecting the performance of Arno, the game's main character, as well as other glitches and lags in the game, and promised to resolve them as soon as possible. Here's what the publisher had to say in a statement on Thursday, Nov. 14:
"We are currently working on our next update that will help address some of the specific issues some players are having, including:
- Arno falling through the ground.
- Game crashing when joining a co-op session.
- Arno getting caught inside of hay carts.
- Delay in reaching the main menu screen at game start.
In addition, we are already looking into many of the other issues you've told us about and we have more updates planned. This list doesn't capture everything, but here are the most widely-reported problems we've heard about from you:
- Frame rate issues.
- Graphical and collision issues.
- Matchmaking co-op issues.
- Helix Credits issues."
Ubisoft has also pointed out that Assassin's Creed: Unity has already received a Day 1 update that fixes a number of issues. The publisher advises gamers to make sure their console or PC is connected to the Internet in order to get the update in question.
Since the game's launch, complaints of various glitches have been piling up, with numerous consumers posting screenshots and videos online. Based on the response and reports, the issues are affecting all of the platforms Assassin's Creed: Unity is available on - PC, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4.
Ubisoft did not provide any exact date for when it will release the next update, but said that it will offer more details "in the coming days."
