The HTC Desire 620 is now official, arriving as a mid-range device with dual-SIM support and two different processor versions.
HTC's Desire range has been quite popular so far, as it consists of various devices with good specifications and affordable price tags. Just recently the HTC Desire 620 leaked online appearing retail-ready, and the latest member of the Desire family has now made its official debut in Taiwan.
Just as previously rumored, the HTC Desire 620 doesn't sport any stellar specs and features on board, but it should offer a more than decent performance for its price point.
As previously mentioned, the device offers two flavors when it comes to processing power: one model packs a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC, while the other sports a MediaTek MTK MT6592 SoC under the hood. The MediaTek-powered variant is called the HTC Desire 620G.
Both models of the smartphone sport a 5-inch HD display with 720p resolution, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, and microSD support for additional memory. The Snapdragon-powered version will support up to 128GB of external storage, while the MediaTek one will take only microSD cards of up to 32GB. A 2,100 mAh battery will keep things up and running, while Android 4.4 KitKat will grace the software side.
The HTC Desire 620 further sports an 8-megapixel rear shooter with 1080p video recording capabilities and the much touted HTC EYE Experience, paired with a selfie-friendly 5-megapixel front shooter. The Snapdragon model also features LTE connectivity, whereas the MediaTek version settles for WCDMA.
In other words, the Snapdragon-powered version of the new HTC Desire 620 is slightly higher-end compared to its MediaTek counterpart, but the difference is also reflected in pricing. The Snapdragon model will cost TWD $6,990 (roughly $225), while the MediaTek variant will retail for TWD $4,990 (about $161). Both versions will go on sale in Taiwan on Monday, Dec. 1.
HTC has yet to mention when the new Desire 620 will hit other markets, but should offer more information shortly. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned. In the meantime, you can find more details about the device here.
