LG is reportedly working on an entry-level device called LG L25, which apparently runs Firefox OS out of the box.
Smartphones running Firefox OS are not something entirely new, but they haven't seen great adoption rates so far either. It now seems that an LG L25 is on its way with Firefox OS on board, sporting entry-level specifications.
Just a couple of days ago, Twitter tipster @Upleaks posted a purported sketch of the device, and the leaker is now back with more details. More specifically, Upleaks has now posted a detailed list of the LG L25's alleged hardware specifications, aiming to paint a clearer picture of what to expect.
Based on this new leak, the LG L25 will apparently come with a 4.68-inch IPS display with an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a pixel density of 313 pixels per inch (ppi). Under the hood, the device will reportedly pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor paired with 1.5 GB of RAM. Other specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2.1-megapixel front shooter, 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 3.0. The smartphone will allegedly measure 139 x 70 x 10.5mm and weigh in at 148 grams.
No information is currently available regarding the pricing of the handset, but these leaked specifications suggest that it should come at an affordable price point. When it comes to availability, Upleaks claimed that the LG L25 was bound to hit carrier KDDI in Japan, but there's also a chance that it will reach other global markets as well. It remains unclear, however, just when exactly it will launch and in which markets.
With no official word from LG so far, this purported Firefox OS-powered smartphone remains in the rumor state at this point. As always with leaks and speculation, it is recommended to take this news with a grain of salt.
All in all, this purported LG L25 sounds like a neat addition to the Firefox OS smartphone family, and could make its debut soon enough. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more details become available in this regards, so make sure to check back.
