The much-touted OPPO R5 has now expanded its availability, as the handset is now up for pre-order in Europe for a hefty €399.
The OPPO R5 comes as the "world's thinnest smartphone," as the company touts it, measuring only 4.85 mm in thickness, and it also comes with high-end specs and features all around - hence the premium price tag. The smartphone is now available for pre-order in Europe in a silver color option only.
As a reminder, the OPPO R5 boasts a premium-looking full-metal unibody design, which also includes composite materials to make it more durable. Its build materials make it look slightly industrial, but in a good way, and also deliver better thermal efficiency.
The smartphone sports a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at a pixel density of 423 pixels per inch (ppi) and packs a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor under the hood, clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM.
Other specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, and a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor IMX214 rear camera, which is considered one of the best sensors on the market. The OPPO R5 also comes with a selfie-friendly 5-megapixel front shooter, and a 2,000 mAh battery to keep things up and running. On the software side, the handset runs Color OS 2.0 based on Android 4.4 KitKat. In terms of weight and dimensions, the OPPO R5 measures 148.9 x 74.5 x 4.85 mm and weighs in at 155 grams.
On the downside, the smartphone only comes with 16GB of storage, which might not be enough for some, and it doesn't have a 3.5mm audio jack either for plugging in headphones.
Nevertheless, interested customers in Europe who set their heart on the OPPO R5 can now pre-order the device from OppoStyle, and receive it by the end of December. Moreover, pre-order customers will also receive a free VOOC power bank for free, so they can rapidly charge their phone's battery. The VOOC power bank typically costs €59.
