OnePlus One Mini variant leaks in images, reveals purported specs

A OnePlus One Mini variant may hit the market soon, as it just leaked online in allegedly live images alongside some specifications.

The OnePlus One smartphone has stirred lots of interest since its launch, not so much due to its high-end specs but because of its elusive status. The handset's availability has been quite exclusive, as only some interested customers actually managed to get their hands on a unit. The company said it didn't want to make too many units and have them pile up in warehouses, so it chose instead to offer the OnePlus One on an invite-only basis, which made it difficult to purchase the handset.

A new device now leaked online, courtesy of GizmoChina, and it's believed to be a Mini variant of the flagship OnePlus One. The report reveals that the OnePlus One Mini will sport a 5-inch display (resolution unspecified), a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, and run Android 4.4 KitKat. In terms of appearance, the device seems to retain the same design language as the OnePlus One, as you can see in the image above. The publication further claims that this model would cost roughly CNY 1499 (about $242).

At the same time, rumors of a OnePlus One successor have been making rounds recently, and the second-generation flagship is expected to be smaller than the current model, at 5.5 inches. Not too long ago, a company executive confirmed that OnePlus was indeed looking into launching a OnePlus One successor with a different form factor, likely in the second or third quarter of 2015.

A Chinese retailer recently listed this purported OnePlus Two smartphone with a $551.99 price tag, revealing the alleged specifications as well. According to the listing, the smartphone will sport a 5.5-inch display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and a 3,300 mAh battery. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, GPS, micro USB, and OTG.

If these two leaks turn out to be accurate, OnePlus is working on both a OnePlus One Mini, which may launch soon, and a OnePlus Two flagship that will arrive later in 2015. With nothing officially confirmed at this point, however, it's best to take these reports with a grain of salt.
