A new Windows-powered HP Pro Tablet 408 is en route and its specifications are now officially listed on the company's website.
HP already has a number of Windows tablets currently available on the market, including the affordable Stream 7 and Stream 8 that retail for $100 and $150, respectively.
Budget tablets, however, won't get you much in terms of specs and performance, and HP wants to offer a higher-end Windows tablet as well. The upcoming HP Pro Tablet 408 G1 is an 8-inch Windows tablet that delivers more memory, a bigger camera, digital pen input, and a better performance overall compared to the HP Stream 8.
This tablet was recently spotted at the FCC, suggesting that it should make an imminent debut, and a spec sheet for the HP Pro Tablet 408 G1 is now available on the HP website, as Liliputing has learned from Dave Zatz.
The upcoming tablet will sport an 8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and 10-point multitouch support, and pack an Intel Atom Z3736F Bay Trail processor under the hood, paired with 2GB of RAM. Other specs include 32GB or 64GB of eMMC storage, microSDXC card support for up to 128GB of additional storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and flash, and a 2-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, microHDMI output, and WiDi wireless display support. The slate also rocks dual stereo speakers, and comes with a 4,800 mAh battery to keep things up and running.
In terms of weight and dimensions, the HP Pro Tablet 408 measures 8.4 x 5.5 x 0.35 inches and weighs in at 13 ounces. HP also lists an HP Pro Tablet 408 Active Pen as a "recommended accessory," indicating that this pen will be available separately, not bundled with the tablet. Other neat features include TPM security, as well as support for an optional 3G modem.
The company has not offered any pricing and availability details yet for its new HP Pro Tablet 408, but it does note that it will launch as an affordable business tablet.
"Stay connected away from your PC with this thin and light 8-inch diagonal business tablet at an entry-level price," reads the product description. "Keep business moving with quick, reliable access to applications and a portfolio of optional mobile accessories to help keep you productive."
Considering that the tablet's full specifications are already available on HP's website, it shouldn't be too long now before the HP Pro Tablet 408 G1 makes its official debut. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more about pricing and availability, so stay tuned.
