HTC apparently has a new mid-range handset in the pipeline, as some new information has now leaked regarding a Desire A55 smartphone.
The rumor mill has been going into overdrive recently trying to anticipate HTC's plans, but the vast majority of leaks focused on the highly-anticipated HTC One M9. The next-generation flagship smartphone from the company is expected to rock top-notch specs and features all around, while also boasting a sleek design and premium build materials.
In addition to the much-touted One M9 flagship, expected to debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in early March, HTC may be gearing up to introduce another smartphone that may come as soon as this month. While the One M9 would cater to the high-end segment of the smartphone market, a purported Desire A55 model will reportedly launch as a mid-range offering with impressive specs for its category.
Trusted tipster Upleaks has just offered some intriguing information regarding this yet-to-be-announced HTC Desire A55 handset and if these leaked specs turn out to be accurate, the smartphone should deliver a great performance at a budget-friendly price point (at least compared to flagship prices).
According to this new leak, the HTC Desire A55 will boast a 5.5-inch display with a WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and pack a 2GHz octa-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 processor under the hood. Other rumored specs of the purported Desire A55 include a hefty 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, and powerful cameras both on its front and back.
Upleaks claims the Desire A55 will rock a 13-megapixel or an UltraPixel front shooter and a 20-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. On the software side, the handset should come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, with Desire Sense 7.0 on top.
These specifications, if accurate, are more than your typical mid-range flavor, but the smartphone is nonetheless expected to launch in this category considering that it's a part of the HTC Desire lineup.
The HTC Desire A55 will allegedly come in White Rose Gold, Gray, and Brown Gold color options, and make its official debut sometime this month. Until official confirmation, however, take this leak with a grain of salt.
