The budget-friendly Microsoft Lumia 435 is now up for pre-order unlocked and SIM-free in the UK, as Amazon UK has listed the device for £88.49.
Microsoft introduced the new Lumia 435 last month as the cheapest Lumia smartphone ever, aiming to cater to consumers looking to buy a smartphone for the first time. As expected from a budget device, the Lumia 435 does not come with high-end specs, but it does pack good hardware for its category and Microsoft promised to support the handset with the latest updates and enhancements to keep users up to date.
In terms of specifications, the Lumia 435 sports a 4-inch QVGA display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and packs a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor under the hood, clocked at 1.2GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM. Other specs include 8GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for up to 128GB of additional memory, and a 1,560 mAh battery to keep things up and running.
In order to offer the device at such a low price point, however, Microsoft had to cut a few corners and the Lumia 435 makes notable sacrifices in terms of camera. The handset features a modest rear camera of only 2 megapixels, and a 0.3-megapixel front shooter.
On the software side, however, the Microsoft Lumia 435 runs Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim on board out of the box, which includes the much-touted Cortana digital assistant, in addition to other neat software features.
In other words, the Lumia 435 Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone has modest specs all around, but its extremely low price tag makes it an attractive offer for smartphone shoppers on a budget. No contract options are available yet in the country, but £88.49 for the SIM-free model is a pretty good deal on its own.
UK smartphone shoppers looking for a cheap smartphone without a contract can now pre-order the SIM-free Microsoft Lumia 435 from Amazon UK and receive the handset on or around March 1. The smartphone is available in black, orange, and green color options. For more information or to place your order, head over to the product page on Amazon's website at this link.
