Samsung is teaming up with Best Buy to demonstrate its Gear VR virtual reality headset at a number of retail locations across the U.S.
The intriguing Samsung Gear VR made its official debut back in early September and started shipping in early December, selling through Samsung's own online stores, as well as AT&T. More recently, however, the gadget was no longer available through AT&T, but it now looks like a fresh batch will make the Gear VR more widely available.
Best Buy recently added the Samsung Gear VR to its online catalog, and starting Sunday, Feb. 8, the retailer will also have the headset on display at a number of its retail locations across the U.S. This more commercial marketing should allow the general public to get a better grasp of what the Gear VR can do, enabling consumers to get a hands-down experience of the device.
As previously mentioned, this hands-on demo will kick off on Sunday, Feb. 8, at participating Best Buy retail locations, so interested customers are advised to check in advance whether their local Best Buy offers this opportunity. To locate the nearest Best Buy store with the Gear VR on display, head over to the retailer's website here and select your state. In Michigan, for instance, there's one store in Westland and one in Southland. Other states and areas may have more options.
Consumers will be able to walk into participating Best Buy retail locations and try on a Samsung Gear VR, experiencing first-hand how the gadget and the Galaxy Note 4 can enhance their reality. While this benefits consumers because they can satisfy their curiosity, the move should also benefit Samsung because more consumers may be willing to buy the device once they know first-hand how it works.
Neither Samsung nor Best Buy mentioned just for how long this hands-on opportunity will be available, but it should last for at least a week or two.
