Exploding Kittens card game ends Kickstarter campaign with whopping $8.782,571 total funding

Card game Exploding Kittens has successfully ended its Kickstarter campaign with a record result, raising a mind-blowing total of $8,782,571.

For those of you who are not familiar with the project, Exploding Kittens is a card game that's pretty much the "kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette," as its creators described it. The card game hit Kickstarter a while ago, seeking to raise a mere $10,000, and has since broken impressive Kickstarter records.

Exploding Kittens proved to be the most successful Kickstarter project of all times, and closed its crowdsourcing campaign with a staggering $8,782,571 under its belt. This means that it raised 87,825 percent more funds than it initially sought, attracting 219,382 backers for an unprecedented success.

Only two other two previous projects raised more money on Kickstarter - Pebble and Coolest Cooler, but Exploding Kittens proved the most popular, attracting the most backers ever for a project on the crowdfunding platform. At the same time, Exploding Kittens also raised the most money for a project in the Games category on Kickstarter.

This fun card game called Exploding Kittens comes from Xbox designers Elan Lee and Shane Small, in collaboration with The Oatmeal's Matthew Inman. The game is suitable for ages 7 and up, albeit it also has a NSFW version that targets adults aged 30 and up.

According to its creators, Exploding Kittens is for "people who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats."

Considering its utterly impressive success on the crowdsourcing platform, lots of people found the prospect of this game highly entertaining and Exploding Kittens is already shaping up as a wildly successful card game.

"We don't have a retail plan yet. We made a promise to more than 200,000 people to ship them this game. That's our highest priority right now," Elan Lee wrote in the comments section of the project on Kickstarter.

The game is supposed to ship in July 2015 to backers, and the founders are doing everything they can to make it happen without delays.
