Samsung Galaxy S6 may cost $699, T-Mobile sweepstakes suggests

The new Samsung Galaxy S6 is set to launch on all four major U.S. carriers when it's ready for its retail debut and may cost $699 outright.

Samsung has officially taken the wraps off its new-generation Galaxy S6 flagship a few days ago at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, but the company has yet to announce exact pricing and availability details for the handset. The smartphone will hit commercial availability in April, but no specific date is known at this point.

Nevertheless, one carrier now offers precious hints in this regards. T-Mobile has kicked off a special sweepstakes, giving U.S. customers the chance to win a brand new Samsung Galaxy S6. With such giveaways, the estimated retail value of the prize has to be listed as per official rules.

T-Mobile lists the Samsung Galaxy S6 with an estimated retail value of $699. This means that the final price of the handset may not be exactly the one listed here, but should be along these lines. The carrier doesn't mention which variant of the smartphone is estimated to cost $699, but it could be the 32GB version.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy S6 comes as the company's latest flagship smartphone, rocking some notable improvements compared to its predecessor. On the design front, the handset finally ditches the dreaded plastic body for a metal frame and a glass back, which makes it look more premium than its predecessor.

In terms of specifications, the new Galaxy S6 sports a 5.1-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and packs a 64-bit Exynos 7420 processor under the hood, with four cores clocked at 2.1GHz and four cores clocked at 1.5GHz. Other specs include 3GB of RAM, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB internal storage configurations with no microSD for expandable memory, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and a 2,550 mAh battery to keep things up and running. On the software side, the handset will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop on board out of the box, as well as a less-bloated TouchWiz UI on top.

It remains to be seen just when the Galaxy S6 will hit retail and how much it will cost when it does, but interested customers can register for T-Mobile's sweepstakes at this link in the meantime for a chance to win the smartphone. The official rules of the giveaway are available here. The sweepstakes ends on March 26, 2015.
