The latest HTC One M9 flagship smartphone should cost roughly $599 when it hits retail, the company revealed as part of a new sweepstakes.
HTC has officially unveiled its new-generation One M9 smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 a few days ago, but has offered no exact pricing or availability details at the time. The handset should launch soon on all four major carriers, and we may now have a clue as to how much it will cost when it becomes available.
The smartphone has already gone up for pre-order in Europe, but the same option has yet to become available in the U.S. Nevertheless, U.S. residents now have the chance to win the latest HTC One M9, as the company has launched a special sweepstakes.
U.S. residents can visit the company's website at this link, complete the form and register their interest until March 24 to enter the HTC One M9 sweepstakes. HTC will randomly select the lucky winners and make the announcement "on or around March 25," the company notes in the terms and conditions of the giveaway.
The same terms and conditions page also mentions the approximate retail value (ARV) of the prize, i.e. the HTC One M9, and it seems the smartphone is expected to cost around $599. This may be the unlocked, full price of the handset when it goes on sale in the U.S.
As a reminder, the HTC One M9 features a 5-inch display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor under the hood, with four cores clocked at 2GHz and four cores clocked at 1.5GHz. Other specs include 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for expandable storage of up to 128GB, a 20-megapixel rear camera, an UltraPixel front shooter, and a 2,840 mAh battery to keep things up and running. On the software front, the smartphone will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop on board and the latest HTC Sense 7.0 on top.
The HTC One M9 is expected to become available later this month, but it remains to be seen whether U.S. carriers will launch it before April. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
