Chromebook Pixel (2015) Chrome OS powerhouse now on sale on Google Store (VIDEO)

The sleek new Chromebook Pixel (2015) is now available for purchase in two models on the Google Store, ready to replace the 2013 model.

Toward the end of February, Google acknowledged that a new Chromebook Pixel was on its way, set to debut 'soon,' and that moment has now arrived.

The original Chromebook Pixel launched back in 2013 did not make it to Google's rebranded storefront, the new Google Store. The 2015 model, its successor, has now replaced it and has officially gone on sale, sporting a lower price tag than its predecessor.

Back in 2013, the original Chromebook Pixel made its debut as a high-end Chrome OS laptop. While other Chromebooks retailed for far less, the Chromebook Pixel came with a steep $1,300 price tag. This year's iteration is not exactly a cheap gadget either, but it is more affordable compared to the original model.

The new Chromebook Pixel (2015) is now available at a $999 starting price, which will get you an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 32GB of SSD storage. It still has a premium price compared to other Chromebooks out there, but it's nevertheless $300 cheaper than the original Chromebook Pixel.

A second variant of the new Chromebook Pixel with more powerful internals is also available, offering an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 63GB of SSD storage for $1,300. This variant is called the "LS."

Other than the processor, RAM, and storage, both models of the new Chromebook Pixel (2015) share the same specifications, including a 3:2, 2560 x 1700 touchscreen display, a sleek metallic design, and a 12-hour battery life on a single charge, according to Google. Moreover, the Chrome OS laptop also supports fast-charging, and is able to get two extra hours of battery life out of a 15-minute rapid charge.

Both Chromebook Pixel (2015) models have a similar appearance to the original Chromebook Pixel, albeit with a spruced up look that makes the speaker grills, fan vents, and screws more discreet.

In terms of connectivity, the new Chromebook Pixel (2015) comes with two USB Type C ports, two USB 3.0 ports, and a headphone jack. The Chrome OS laptop also has a microSD card reader on board. When it comes to software, the device runs Chrome OS and Android apps.

Both the standard Chromebook Pixel and the higher-end LS model are now available for purchase from the Google Store at this link. To get a better idea about the device, you can also check out the video below.
