Motorola fans purchasing a new Moto X will get two smartphones for the price of one, as the company will also throw in a free Moto E.
In an attractive new limited-time promotion, Motorola is offering a free Moto E (second generation) with 3G when purchasing a new Moto X through Moto Maker. The second-generation Moto E is a neat mid-range smartphone with good specifications for its category, and it already comes with an affordable price tag. Nevertheless, U.S. consumers can now get it for free if they buy a new Moto X. Considering that the second-generation Moto E normally retails for $119.99, this limited-time offer will allow for notable savings.
It's worth pointing out, however, that Motorola's new deal seems to be available only for U.S. customers. Those interested in the new Moto X can choose to purchase the handset unlocked at full retail price, or get it subsidized on a two-year service agreement with AT&T or Verizon Wireless. As long as the purchase is made through Moto Maker, the new Moto X will come bundled with a free Moto E (second generation) with 3G.
As a reminder, the second-generation Moto E with 3G sports a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor under the hood. Other specs include 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, and a 5-megapixel rear camera.
In other words, the Moto E (2nd gen) with 3G comes with modest specifications on board, but it should nonetheless deliver a decent experience on a budget. Getting it for free makes the deal even sweeter.
The new Moto X, meanwhile, has a 5.2-inch full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels) and packs a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor under the hood, paired with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone comes in three internal storage configurations - 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB - albeit the higher-capacity 64GB version is not available yet with carrier contracts.
As Motorola notes, this promotion offering a free Moto E (second generation) with 3G when purchasing a new Moto X through Moto Maker is a limited-time affair, set to expire on March 24.
