‘Game of Thrones’ Season 5 premiere available for free on Xbox One, Xbox 360

Xbox One or 360 owners are in for a neat treat, as Microsoft has teamed up with HBO to offer the Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere for free.

Game of Thrones has proved to be immensely popular ever since its debut, and fans worldwide are now excited to see the latest season. Microsoft has now signed a new deal with HBO to offer the Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere for free on its Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. The offer will be available to Xbox Live members until April 16.

"Are you an Xbox Live member impatiently looking for updates from the Seven Kingdoms? Wait no more. Our ravens are bringing some exciting news - starting today, all Xbox Live members can watch the 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 premiere for free through April 16," Microsoft officially announced on Monday, April 13.

"And if that's not enough to get you ready for Season 5, HBO and Xbox have joined forces to bring you a variety of Game of Thrones content in a special experience available this week when you sign into Xbox Live. Preview Season 5 with trailers, pledge your allegiance to a house, go behind the scenes with on-set tours, and test your Westeros knowledge with trivia questions asked by Game of Thrones cast members."

"So, rally the realm, and get to your nearest Xbox to enjoy the Season 5 premiere all week. Once you've finished watching the Season 5 premiere, contact your provider so you can watch the rest of the season on HBO GO with Xbox."

On Friday, April 10, Microsoft has also announced a new energy-saving mode for its Xbox One console, which will be available as an alternative to the Instant-On mode for U.S. customers. The company had received lots of criticism over the power consumption of the Xbox One, particularly due to the Instant-On feature, and the new energy-saving mode aims to make things right.

The HBO deal for Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere further comes as great news for owners of the console, but remember that it will only be available for free until April 16 on the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
