Motorola slashes up to $225 off unlocked Moto X (2014) today only

Motorola has a sweet new deal in place for its Moto X (2014), offering the handset for just $225 off contract, one-day only.

The second-generation Moto X launched back in 2014 is Motorola's latest flagship smartphone, and comes with notable improvements on all fronts compared to its predecessor. The new iteration has far better specs than the original Moto X, while also retaining the high customization options that proved so popular among consumers.

Motorola has cut the price of its flagship Moto X on several occasions in the past, and the company is now at it again with a fresh new promotion that allows for significant savings.

On Wednesday, May 6, the second-generation Moto X is available for up to $225 off its regular pricing, without a contract. The deal is good for today only, and it's set to expire at 10:59 AM CT, as Motorola itself notes on its website.

This means that the unlocked Moto X (2014) with 32GB of internal storage is now available for just $349.99, i.e. $200 off its regular price of $549.99, while the higher-capacity variant with 64GB of internal storage now costs $374.99, i.e. $225 off its regular price tag of $599.99. Once the promotion expires at 10:59 AM CT, the smartphone will return to its regular pricing.

As a reminder, the second-generation Moto X released in 2014 sports a 5.2-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor under the hood, paired with 2GB of RAM. Other specs include 16GB or 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and a 3,200 mAh battery.

Compared to the original Moto X (1st Gen), which came with mid-range specs all around, the 2014 iteration of the smartphone comes with arguably better specifications on all fronts. At the same time, Motorola's flagship may find it difficult to compete against newly-released flagships such as the HTC One M9, the Samsung Galaxy S6/ Galaxy S6 Edge, or the LG G4, and this notable price cut may help drive sales of the handset amid increasing competition.

The Moto X (2nd Gen, 2014) may not be the highest-end flagship out there, but this promotional sale definitely makes it worth a look. As previously mentioned, the offer is only good for one day, May 6, so interested customers might want to take advantage of it while it lasts.
