Apple's next-generation iPhones could boast notable improvements over the current versions, including edge-to-edge displays, a new A9 processor, DSLR-like cameras, and more.
If Apple is to respect its usual product launch cycle, we should see the new generation of iPhones sometime in September. With four months to go, the rumor mill has already started churning in anticipation and some intriguing reports hint at exciting things to come.
It remains unclear for now whether Apple's next smartphones will come as the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus or be called the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but rumors hint at real powerhouses with top-notch specs.
Wccftech has made a roundup of expected specs and features for the 2015 iPhones, aiming to paint a picture of what could be on the table. The next iPhone flagship may reportedly boast an edge-to-edge display, which would mark a great improvement over the iPhone 6 Plus bezel that made the phablet look immense.
The iPhone 7 may also come with a smaller display size and overall dimensions, while sporting a full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the next-generation iPhones are expected to pack Apple's new A9 processor, which is rumored to come from archrival Samsung. Previous rumors have hinted that Samsung will make the A9 processor using its 14-nanometer FinFET tech, which should translate into a blazing fast processor for the iPhone 7.
In the camera department, Apple is expected to equip its iPhone 7 with a dual-lens shooter that should deliver DSLR-like images, but nothing is confirmed at this point. Considering that flagship smartphones nowadays come with increasingly better cameras, Apple is expected to make some serious upgrades in this department as well.
Lastly, the new-generation iPhone 7 may also feature Apple's new USB Type-C connector, although it remains unclear for now. Apple may also upgrade the RAM department, as recent rumors indicated that the new iPhones may come with 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM. Previous whispers also mentioned Force Touch technology, as well as a pink avatar.
It's all in the rumor state at this point, however, and a lot can change in four months. The new iPhone flagships are not expected until September of this year, so it may still be a bit early to determine just what they will bring to the table. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, but make sure to take all leaks and reports with a hefty grain of salt.
