Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 confirmed in new app changelog

An intriguing new app changelog has accidentally confirmed the existence of the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, suggesting an imminent debut.

The new Galaxy Tab S2 series is expected to consist of premium tablets, sporting notable improvements over the already impressive Galaxy Tab S lineup launched last year. The Galaxy Tab S boasted the best displays Samsung has ever packed on a tablet, and the new generation is expected to take things to the next level.

The rumor mill has already been churning in anticipation of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, and just last week whispers hinted at a June release. If there was any doubt left that the Galaxy Tab S2 is en route, a new app changelog has now confirmed its existence.

The Hancom Office Hshow 2014 app for opening Microsoft Office files and PDFs comes pre-installed on Samsung Galaxy smartphones, and the latest app changelog now contains an exciting reference. More specifically, the changelog (see image above) now lists support for the Galaxy Tab S2 and the recently-launched Galaxy Tab A, Twitter user Faryaab revealed, as spotted by SamMobile.

Based on previous rumors, the new-generation Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 should come with high-end specs and features all around, and launch in two variants with different display sizes. One model will reportedly have an 8-inch screen, while the larger variant will boast a 9.7-inch display.

Both Galaxy Tab S2 models are expected to feature Super AMOLED displays with a high resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, 64-bit Samsung Exynos processors paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity expandable via microSD, 8-megapixel rear cameras, and 2.1-megapixel front snappers. The slates should come with Android 5.0 Lollipop on board out of the box, and be available in both Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + LTE models.

As previously mentioned, recent rumors peg the launch for June, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablets should hit various markets worldwide, including the U.S., Canada, China, Europe, Hong Kong, Korea, India, and Latin America.

No additional information is available at this point, but confirmation of the tablets' existence further bolster claims of an imminent debut. We'll keep you posted as soon as we learn more, so make sure to check back.
