AT&T Trek HD own-brand Lollipop tablet goes on sale – Specs, pricing, availability (VIDEO)

The first AT&T branded tablet is now officially available for purchase, launching on Tuesday, May 12, as the AT&T Trek HD.

The AT&T Trek HD is not only the company's first own-brand tablet, but also its first slate to come with Android Lollipop on board out of the box. The slate goes on sale on AT&T's website on Tuesday, May 12, and will also become available for purchase in AT&T stores nationwide on May 15.

With a lightweight design that allows for easy portability, the AT&T Trek HD aims to serve as a reliable tablet that can keep users entertained on the go.

In terms of specifications, the AT&T Trek HD features an 8-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and packs a 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood, paired with 1GB of RAM. Other specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory of up to 32GB, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and a 4,060 mAh battery to keep everything up and running, promising to last for up to eight hours on a single charge. Due to its slim and light design, the tablet tips the scales at just 12 ounces.

"The Trek HD is a big step forward for AT&T in terms of developing affordable products with premium features. Not only is this our first AT&T branded tablet, it's the first tablet in our entire portfolio with Lollipop already installed, so when you buy the Trek HD you're getting the most advanced Android operating system at a great value - on the network with the nation's strongest 4G LTE signal," Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of Device Marketing and Developer Services at AT&T Mobility, said in the press release.

When it comes to pricing, the AT&T Trek HD tablet is available for $49.99 with a two-year contract, or $10 per month for 20 months with the AT&T Tablet Installment Plan. Also for $10 per month, interested customers can add the AT&T Trek HD to a new or existing Mobile Share Value plan.
