The ASUS ZenFone 2 will launch via select retailers in the U.S. and Canada on May 19, and Amazon is already selling the device.
In fact, the retailer has already put up a launch page for the ZenFone 2 on May 18, offering the smartphone in both versions - either with 2GB or 4GB of RAM. Amazon currently lists the handset as "in stock" and promises to ship it as soon as May 20 for those who choose next-day delivery, albeit it costs a bit more. It's worth mentioning, however, that the higher-end variant appears as "in stock" as well, but with the mention that it may require an extra day or two to process.
The ASUS ZenFone 2 stirred quite some waves back at the CES 2015 earlier this year, when it made its debut as the first smartphone to rock a whopping 4GB of RAM under the hood. Amid a number of neat specifications, the ZenFone 2 packs a 64-bit Intel Atom processor that will power both versions of the handset - one model is clocked at 1.8GHz, while the other is clocked at 2.3GHz. According to ASUS, its latest flagship smartphone can also deliver high-quality gaming performance that's seven times faster than that of its predecessor.
The ZenFone 2 also comes with a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display, rocking a thin bezel of just 3.3mm and a pixel density of 403 pixels per inch (ppi).
Other specs of the ASUS ZenFone 2 include a 13-megapixel PixelMaster rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens and zero shutter lag, complete with an "industry-leading" low-light mode that increases brightness up to 400 percent without requiring flash. The handset further comes with a 5-megapixel front shooter that can capture a 140-degree field of view thanks to a "selfie Panorama" mode.
As previously mentioned, the ASUS ZenFone 2 comes in two models - one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage capacity, and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
Amazon is selling the lower-specced model for $199 in black or silver color options, and the top variant with 4GB of RAM for $299 in silver, gold, or red avatars. The models are unlocked and will work on GSM carriers such as AT&T and T-Mobile, but not on CDMA networks such as Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular.
