After plenty of teasing for its latest smartphones, OPPO has officially unveiled its new R7 and R7 Plus smartphones.
The company has been teasing the new OPPO R7 and R7 Plus for quite some time now, and just a few days ago it published official press renders, as well as a TV commercial. While the fact that the OPPO R7 and the Oppo R7 Plus were coming was no longer a big secret, and neither was the design, the company only now made a proper unveiling and announced the full specifications for the smartphones as well.
OPPO held an event on Wednesday, May 20, to take the wraps off its R7 and R7 Plus smartphones and let the world know what to expect in terms of specs, features, and performance.
The smaller OPPO R7 features a 5-inch AMOLED display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, while the larger OPPO R7 Plus, as its name suggests, comes with a massive 6-inch display, but with the same full HD resolution. On a bigger screen, however, the pixel density is lower.
Both the OPPO R7 and the OPPO R7 Plus pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 octa-core processors under the hood, clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with Adreno 305 graphics and 3GB of RAM.
In terms of internal storage capacity, the OPPO R7 comes with 16GB of storage on board, while the R7 Plus phablet features 32GB of built-in storage. Nevertheless, both handsets come with microSD support for additional memory of up to 128GB.
Both the OPPO R7 and the OPPO R7 Plus further feature 13-megapixel rear cameras with an f/2.2 aperture, as well as 8-megapixel front shooters with f/2.4 aperture. The OPPO R7 packs a 2,320 mAh battery to keep things up and running, while a larger 4,100 mAh battery will power the OPPO R7 Plus. On the software side, both devices run OPPO's new Colo OS 2.1, which is based on Google's Android Lollipop.
Lastly, when it comes to pricing and availability, the OPPO R7 will cost roughly $400, while the R7 Plus will go up to $480. The OPPO R7 is set to go up for pre-order on May 20 on JD.com and Oppostyle.com, ahead of its commercial release on June 15. The OPPO R7 Plus, meanwhile, will hit retail in August.
