New Facebook Photo Sharing Moments App

Facebook users will be delighted to enjoy a brand new way of sharing bunch of photos with all their friends at once. Creative Labs, Facebook's studio for experimental projects, is launching a new app called Moments. The new Moments app will be available next Monday, June 22, for Android and iPhone users.

The idea behind this new app is to provide an easy way of sharing pictures with people who appear in them, without texting them or emailing the pictures one by one.

From your account, Facebook has the access to all the information about your friends. When you log in to your Facebook account using your iPhone or Android phone, you will be able to use Moments app to send photos to your friends and contacts. If someone from your friends' list has not installed the new Moments app yet, Facebook Messenger app will prompt them to download Moments.

The concept of this photo-sharing app is pretty simple. The application will pull in pictures from your camera roll when you first launch it. Then, it will use Facebook's facial recognition technology in order to identify your friends in the pictures. Once the job is done, the user has the option to send a batch of those pictures to their friends who appeared on them.

Several social networking apps were launched by Facebook Creative Labs over the past years. However, many of them were heavily borrowed from features in other apps, and none of them has enjoyed massive success and high popularity. Perhaps again, Facebook is not trying to create the next phenomenon in social networking with the Moments apps.

Moments will just be used instead to test some of the features for the main Facebook app. However, the idea of using facial recognition technology to allow Facebook mobile users to share pictures with friends privately is a pretty interesting one.

We all know how difficult it is to get all the pictures wherein you are present from your friends who have captured them on various occasions. The same group shot is often taken using multiple phones and you might want to see them all to choose the best. When you participate in an event, there are many individuals who are taking pictures throughout the day and you'll certainly want to share your pictures with all your friends who appear in them.

Moments allows you to create photo sync groups with all your friends. By being able to sync your pictures privately with them, from then on, it is more likely that you and your friends will share all your pictures you've taken together.
