Apple users are set to see an improved version of Google Hangouts 4.0. The updates were announced in Washington on Tuesday, June 30.
The search engine's messaging platform gets a revamp on its user interface. The new design is sleeker, with buttons repositioned for easier use.
A green circle can now be seen in the app's layout. This can be used to quickly start a new conversation. Navigation can now be accessed with the navigation drawer, a hamburger button on the top left side of the app.
Other changes in the look of the app include predominant use of green, matching Hangouts' color, and a slightly thicker font.
Usability improvements include a new button for quick compose. This allows users to easily search for frequently used contacts. New attachment buttons have also been integrated. Thus, sharing multiple photos is now possible.
Emoticons, emojis, and stickers can also be accessed more easily with the improvements made. Videos can also be shared using the new version.
The dialer for Hangouts voicecall also got a redesign. Fixes for its flaws and bugs also come with the new version.
Just one day after it was released for iOS users, netizens are already giving positive reviews about the new version of Hangouts.
A review from Endgadget said that the app looks much neater. It is also easier to use. The updates are all made for the app's better performance and optimum user's experience. Google Hangouts for iOS was first released in March this year.
Android users are now looking forward to have the updated version on their preferred operating system. Leaks of the android version a few weeks ago reportedly show that it is almost identical to the iOS.
Android users have projected that the new update will be coming soon. The search company has not issued any official announcement about the Android release.
Google Hangouts 4.0 is now available on the iTunes App Store.
