After Microsoft's press event had a huge impact, thanks to the impressive Minecraft demo, it's now Sony's turn to make the news. The giant electronics corporation Sony unveiled their action game, The Last Guardian, which is scheduled to launch in 2016. The decade long saga game has been a long time coming, but after three years of relative silence, Sony finally unveiled the game Monday, June 29, at E3.
The company also announced the Shenmue 3, aiming to please the most passionate video game fans. All of the Sony game titles were awaited for so long that they had almost become mythical.
The Final Fantasy VII remake, even if it could not totally recreate the experience provided by the incredibly popular Final Fantasy VII, is thought to be a hit by itself - taken as an assumption from a brief trailer of the game.
The Last Guardian will be released in 2016. The storyline is about friendship between a boy and his puppy-bird hybrid. Until now, this game has been in development for almost a decade. No firm release window was given, but now, one thing is quite certain - the game is coming next year.
Shenmue 3 is a sequel to Sega's cult life simulator. The game is actually not being developed by Sony, but rather being crowdfunded by the Sega series' creator.
Analysts have predicted that Sony will make headlines by revealing their VR headset Morpheus. This event had happened as well, but it seemed to be rather covered under the impact of their game announcements.
All this week, the Morpheus VR headset will be available for trials on the E3 show. One of the device's unique features is its ability to link into the same virtual world multiple users. This virtual reality headset runs on a PS4 rather than on a PC, so it is expected that the multiplayer VR gaming will be seamless.
In addition to the three game titles mentioned above, Sony studios Media Molecule and Guerilla also unveiled other projects they've been working on, the exploratory action game Horizon and the collaborative animation and drawing game, Dreams. An impressive demonstration was given to Uncharted 4, set for release next year, and to the new game, Hitman.
Dreams is Sony's newest take on collaborative gaming. The idea behind Dreams is all about expressing yourself with powerful drawing and animation tools. Your snippets will join a global fabric of ideas that can be explored by other gamers in stream-of-consciousness style.
The handheld Vita system from Sony was also mentioned. When launched on the market, it is expected that the device will make a strong impact in the age of smartphone gaming.
