The upcoming release of Windows 10 in a few weeks' time has caused excitement among Windows followers. But the much-hyped operating system is going to roll out in waves. And not everyone is getting the Windows 10 upgrade on the said date.
Microsoft previously announced that Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users are eligible for the free upgrade on the release date. With the new announcement, it seems that not everyone, not even those who signed up for the upgade, are going to get it on the day.
The software company will be releasing the operating system to Windows Insiders first. The insiders are those who signed up for the beta testing. Users eligible for upgrade will get it at a later date not yet announced by Microsoft.
"We will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after 29 July. Each day of the rollout, we will listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users," according to the post.
There's an option to reserve the new OS. However, this will not ensure that you get the upgrade on July 29. There is no clarity as to when users can get Windows 10." Microsoft's Terry Myerson wrote.
There was an initial confusion regarding who will get the free Windows 10 update and who will not. With the new announcement, and the succeeding ones, more questions are going to be posted by followers of Windows 10 updates.
The Windows 10 team has not explained at length the reason for the staged roll out. But from the back-to-back builds released last week, the operating system may still be testing its new bug fixes and other added apps.
Internet reports say that the software company has not given a final build that can be passed to manufacturers. While the recent builds showed the OS is nearly ready, it may not be the case. Thus, the launch is staggered.
Microsoft still sticks to July 29 marker for succeeding announcements. Followers can only wait at this point.
