Hacking Team Is Negotiating With Australian Government, Leaks Show

The Australian Federal Police, IBAC, and ASIO may be in communication with notorious spyware provider Hacking Team more than previously thought. The government and intelligence agencies in Australia appear to be in talks for the organization's surveillance device.

E-mail correspondences between Australian government agencies and the Italian hacking organization have been leaked. This is one of the direct results of the recent hack attack on Hacking Team. The authenticity of the documents have not been confirmed by the agencies in question.

IBAC or Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission, was reportedly considering a $500,000 deal for Hacking Team's secret monitoring services just two weeks ago. This was also shown in the alleged correspondence with the Milan-based surveillance group.The demonstration of the monitoring device has been pesented to the commission two months ago, in May.

The AFP, on the other hand, has been exposed as a client of Hacking Team in 2009, until 2011. Leaks show 245,000-euro transanctions with the Hacking Team for spyware products.

Hacking Team has previously said that the leaked files were falsified by the hacker, who identified himself this week. AFP has declined to comment on the issue, ABC reported.

Last week, the notorious provider of offensive spyware, Hacking Team, has been hacked by a hacker who later identified himself as Phineas Fisher. Hacking Team has several government agencies around the world as its clients, purchasing surveillance and hacking devices.

The 400-GB data breach, leaking information to public web sites such as Pastebin, Wikileaks, and even Twitter. The files show extensive client lists of the organization. The FBI is also revealed to be a client. The organization has previously denied selling its products and services to oppressive dictatorship countries. The documents show otherwise, with a Sudan transaction surfacing.

Hacking Team is currently on emergency mode, and is talking to police in investigating the incident.
