The Microsoft Surface Pro 4, rumoured to be in the works, may see a 2016 release. The company's new flagship tablet is not even confirmed to be in the works. Only persistent rumours about the device's specifications, and speculations regarding its release date have kept the buzz about it going. Microsoft has been particularly tight-lipped about its newest device.
Netizens have initially speculated that the device will be hitting the markets on a date close to the Windows 10 release. Of course, the new tablet will improve on the Surface Pro 3's features. The earlier Surface model is also rumored to be re-selling. The software company is reportedly looking for channel partners which will sell its tablets exclusively.
This may be one of the reasons why the rumored release by the end of the year has been delayed. But if the software company is looking for partners to sell Surface Pro 3 again, it also seems to be considering the timeline of a new partner for its Surface Pro 4. Korean tech giant Samsung has signed a deal to provide 226 GB SSDs for the company's devices.
The SSDs are reported to still be in the development and production process. Samsung will deliver 20 million units of the SSD in the second half of next year. The device is said to be able to transfer files at 2 GB/s.
With the inclusion of the new Samsung technology, the software company is looking into releasing the new device with more improvements. A speed three times that of Surface Pro 3 is a good headstart.
The Surface Pro 4 is rumored to have a 12-inch screen size, a USB Type C-port, and a stylus, among other things, Yibada reported. A 2K pixel resolution is also said to be a feature of the new tablet.
Microsoft has not confirmed anything about the device.
