Redmond software company Microsoft has announced that it will hold the release of Windows 10 builds. The builds have previously been available in Slow and Fast rings. They have been released as a precedent for the launch of Windows 10, scheduled in two weeks' time.
"We're suspending the availability of Windows 10 builds briefly while we prepare for that, and the next build that we flight to you will be delivered using the production channels. Starting tomorrow, we will also not be delivering any additional ISOs at this point as we really need Insiders to be using, stressing, and validating our distribution and upgrade processes. We'll make ISOs available again in the future, but for now we ask you to upgrade your current build via Windows Update once the next build is released." Microsoft's Gabe Aul wrote on the Windows blog.
The builds have been made for Windows Insiders to experience the new operating system. They are regularly introduced to the Insiders team, who volunteered to test the operating system in its various development stages. The latest build that has been made available to Slow and Fast rings is Build 10166.
The newest build has shown Windows 10's Wi-fi sense feature, which allows any Windows 10-powered device to automatically log in to open internet hotspots. Previous builds have revealed the new desktop background, an updated user interface, and a voice assistant, Cortana, among others.
As to why the release of builds has been put on hold, Microsoft has not released a statement as of the moment. The software company is also suspending upgrading and disabling via Windows Update. Beginning tomorrow, July 15, the builds cannot be downloaded anymore, and other conditions following the suspension will apply.
Windows 10 will be launched on July 29. The roll out of several builds has allowed the company's followers to keep track of the progress of finalizing the operating system until it is made available to the market.
