Revamped iPod Touch has Faster Speed and Captures Better Photos

Apple has released its line of revamped iPod Touch models on July 15. It has been three years since the device has had any major updates for the iPod Touch, which the company released in 2012. The device can easily get mistaken for the iPhone, with its size, thickness and design.

The iPod Touch is 6.1 mm thick, and weighs 88 grams, the same specifications as the 2012 model. The measurements are also not far from that of recent iPhone models, which have 6.7 mm thickness on average. Now, the improved iPod Touch is also equipped with an 8 megapixel rear camera, an increase from the 5-megapixels the device had in 2012. Its front camera has 1.2 megapixel capacity.

These boosts in camera quality lets the device take better photos. It has been reported previously that the iPod touch can now take panoramas. The higher quality photo-taking capacity has been speculated ever since rumors of an iPod revamp have made rounds on the internet.

Another rumored feature of the iPod during the time it has not been released yet is the 64-bit A8 processor, the same technology incorporated to the iPhone 6. The new processor has visibly sped up the device, allowing apps to load faster. Because of this, it will take much lesser time to switch between them. It also takes much shorter time to load web pages and open one after another.

According to The Verge, the M8 chip used for tracking iPod activities is also included in the improved device. iPod Touch is also powered by the latest iOS, 8.4. This means Apple Music is accessible on the music player. The iPod touch retails for $199 to $399, depending on storage capacity. The 16 GB model is priced at $199, while the 128 GB costs $399.

The iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle are also available, priced at $149 (Nano) and $49 (Shuffle). All iPods are available in black, silver, pink, electric blue and gray.
