An instagram spokesperson said, "While Instagram.com is designed to be complementary to the mobile apps, it's important to the global conversations that happen on Instagram." Instagram.com is a more limited component of the app, which only allows visitors to scroll on photos of users they follow, and see who likes them.
The search tab is located at the top center of the website. It looks like any other search tabs, suggesting keywords for searches. It also shows top posts and landing pages for geotags. The website has been developed three years ago.
Recently, high resolution photos are also added to the social network's roster of improved features. The improved 'Search'and 'Explore' on the mobile app allows users to experience real time events and communicate with fellow Instagram members nearby.
Instagram is considered as the most popular photosharing platform, having garnered 300 million active users monthly around the world. Instagram reported 70 million photo uploads daily, with 2.5 billion cumulative number of likes for all the content. The app is owned by Facebook, and it uses the same like and follow dynamics of its parent company.
Last week, the United Kingdom reported that it has 14 million Instagram users. The bulk of Instagram users reside outside the United States, which accounts for 30% of the demographic.
