Google Releases New Google Glass

Thursday, July 30, search giant Google has released the new version of its smart glasses, the Google Glass. The newly-released device redirects its target exclusively to businesses. According to Telegraph U.K., Google is not releasing the device to the market for public use. Some improvements have been made and features have been added to the wearable internet device.

The new Google Glass now comes with a battery pack, according to Wallstreet Journal. Battery life has gone up to two hours. The new model also lets the faster mini-computer to attach in any glasses through a button-and-hinge system. Internet connection via wireless networks and the wearable technology has also gotten some improvements. Images seen from the user's peripheral vision are longer and can be turned vertically and horizontally.

The new Google Glass is distributed quietly to businesses aimed at healthcare and production. Hospitals and factories will get to use the device. A new model of Google Glass will not be available until the middle of next year. Despite the device being aimed only at the workplace, consumers are hoping that it will reach the market.

Google Glass has first been released in 2013 but was inadvertently pulled out from the market. In the U.K., the company has also stopped the sale of the £1,000 gadget. Six months after the pull-out, news of a Google Glass 2 being in the work has made rounds in the online community. At that time, the device has been codenamed GG1.

There have been no updates for the consumer version of the device after it has been pulled out in January. Wearable internet devices have surged to the consumer market in the recent years. Smartwatch are selling millions. Virtual reality eye devices are also being marketed in the form of goggles like devices such as the Google Cardboard and Facebook's Oculus. Samsung has similarly invested in a wearable headset. It may only be a matter of time before Google keeps up with the growing market for such devices.
