Angry Birds 2 Gets10 Million Downloads In 3 Days

Rovio has just released a new version of the popular Angry Birds game. After less than a week since its July 30 launch, the game has hit 10 million downloads. From July 31 through August 3, the game has reached the 10-million mark, making it one of the most successful games under the franchise.

When the game's developer has announced the arrival of the new edition, it also indicated that Angry Birds 2 will have better graphics than its predecessors. A previous report on the game listed what's new on Angry Birds 2. Apparently, the game has delivered on its promise, which other reports say is what brought in the millions in just a few days.

An Inferse article has similarly praised the effects of the game, saying they are "a big deal, and Rovio's done nicely." Other plus sides of Angry Birds 2 are gameplay features like the fast forward button, which saves a player's time in dealing with the dialogue boxes and new birds and bosses to choose from as the player progresses from one level to another.

The downside of the game is carried by its free to play option, which takes ages to download. The game is 67 MB heavy and many other apps are required to be downloaded after the game has been installed. The play for free setup termed freemium tests players' patience because it is so time-consuming. So time-consuming indeed, that players may prefer to buy the game instead of playing it free for a limited time while the time runs out from downloads alone.

The impressive showing is a major achievement for the Rovio creation. After peaking in 2011 following high release sales in 2009, the game suffered a 73 percent loss in sales. Angry Birds has launched 15 games in total and the popularity of the game has spurred a franchise that turned Angry Birds into a brand. The 10-million mark in 3 days may just be the boost that will bolster Angry Birds to its peak again. Let's just hope the freemium won't compromise it.
